Something is still up in the air (2024)

Something is still up in the air (2024) is my work in depicting the abandonment of the industrial era.

Discarded Industrial materials are used as the medium for this piece. I imbue man-made objects with biological forms, creating mutated creatures and fragments of buildings. While there are traces of human existence, everything has become a monument.

In the pre-scientific era, fear of the unknown fed human imagination. Science has slowly allowed everything to be explained in terms of the known and the unknown, thus overturning the existence of monsters. However, our need for fantasy continues. The troubling uncertainties of the world remain an unavoidable topic today. The fictional realm is imbued in reality, a bit of curiosity for the unusual is hidden beneath the  normality.

Inspired by pylon towers, the silent giants that supply everyone’s electric use, I evoke a thrill similar to megalophobia. This intuitive emotion converts into a new image, escaping from reality to fiction.

Modern society is like a web, controlling the material world and numbing our sensory. My work meant to awaken a consciousness, that to look beyond concerns of our daily life, and think of this world beyond our demand.Beyond efficiency, in the realm of imagination, we can resume habitat in our innate clairvoyance.
